From time to time, Tough Mutts Dog Rescue receives updates on our alumni from their new families.
We couldn't be happier and more proud to read the update we received about Hope.
Hope is one of Tough Mutt Penny's seven puppies. Nearly fully grown, she is loving life with her fur-ever family.
The following is a message from Hope's family. We hope her story inspires people to consider opening their homes and hearts to a rescue dog.
"Hope became a hero last week. Due to our vacation Hope and Bella were staying with friends. That family has a 3 year-old, 6 year-old, and 8 year old with special needs. Hope loves the 3 year-old most of all and follows him around whenever we visit.
One day last week, one adult was outside working in the shed and the other was inside. Both thought the 3 year-old was with the other for close to an hour. When they realized that he was not with either one, they frantically searched for the little boy. They live on a cow farm with a pond a little over 1/4 of a mile from the house. Hope had never gone that far from the house, but the mom could hear her barking. When the mom topped the hill, she could see the boy on the edge of the pond and Hope in the water pushing him back on the bank; body blocking him as he tried to get around her. The mom ran to get him and he is fine but we can only imagine what would have happened if Hope had not followed him and kept him out of the water!"
It's important to remember that even when we rescue dogs; most of the times they rescue us back.
